Are you tired of the same old microwaveable pot stickers that come out soggy and unappetizing? Want to step up your snack game without breaking a sweat? Well, have you heard of the wondrous world of air frying?
Air fryers have taken the kitchen appliance market by storm, and for good reason. The cooking method is the best way to "fry up" your favorite foods with hot air instead of pan frying.
Little or no oil is used, but your food will be cooked to golden brown, crispy perfection. And what better way to test out your air fryer skills than with some delicious, frozen potstickers?
Now, you may be thinking to yourself, "I'm not a chef, I can barely boil water!" Fear not, my friend. Cooking these air fryer Ling Ling potstickers is one of the easiest things you can do in the kitchen. Just take those frozen dumplings out of the freezer, throw them in the basket, and watch as they transform into golden, crispy perfection right before your eyes.
And the best part? You can customize your potstickers to your heart's desire. Whether you're feeling a little spicy and want to add some Sriracha to your dipping sauce or you're a garlic lover who wants to add a little extra zing, the options are endless.
Why you'll love it
- Uses store-bought potstickers for convenience
- Less mess and easy clean up
- Perfect snack or easy appetizer when short on time
- Can be paired with other recipes for a complete meal
Ingredients
Frozen potstickers - we used Ling Ling Pork and Vegetable potstickers because that's what was available at the grocery store. Feel free to experiment different flavors or with something similar from Trader Joe's or Costco.
Non-stick cooking spray - this is an important ingredient to include. Potstickers and dumplings are not pre-fried like egg rolls. So in order to get a nice crisp exterior, you'll need a good spritz of some olive oil spray or the like before and during cooking. You can also use some vegetable oil, olive oil, or some avocado oil as well.
Water - you can add about ยฝ cup of water to the bottom of the inner air fryer basket to create some steam. I have made them with and without adding water and didn't find much of a difference.
Dipping sauce - you can choose a store bought sweet chili sauce, sweet and sour sauce, or even use some low sodium soy sauce.
Garnishes like sliced green onions and sesame seeds are a nice touch, but are optional.
Equipment
I also highly recommend the Cosori XL 5.8 quart air fryer for cooking larger quantities.
Instructions
Be sure you're familiar with your air fryer. The Ninja recommends preheating so I did so at 380 degrees F for three minutes.
Add potstickers to a medium bowl and spritz them with cooking spray to evenly coat both sides.
Place frozen potstickers in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer leaving enough space between them so they're not touching.
Cook for 10 minutes turning potstickers over at the halfway point and spritzing them again.
Kitchen tips
Air fryers vary by brand and model. For best results, add more cooking time in one minute increments if necessary to achieve crunchy potstickers. Or, reduce cook time if crispy and heated throughout.
Quick facts
A quick spritz of cooking spray will help you achieve perfectly crisp texture and golden brown color. This method is a great alternative to deep frying, which can add a ton of extra fat and calories.
